Sevalaya celebrated the Birthday of Mahakavi Bharathiyar at Kasuva Centre on 11th December 2020. The Chief Guest of the celebratory event was Preetam Mehra, Secretary Head, Rotary Club of Chennai Metropolis. A A Kingston, VP Operations, Sevalaya, presented a welcome speech addressing the Chief Guests. He explained about the importance of this day and how it is celebrated every year at Sevalaya.
The Chief Guest gave a brief speech about the Rotary Club and its role in helping the community. He explained about the missions of Rotary Club is to provide education to all the children in the world, equal opportunity for men and women, free healthcare and projects for challenged people. He shared his 5 important life lessons to the students to learn well, be bold, achieve goals, respect women and be creative.
A speech was given by Geetha Lakshmi, Std VII, Sevalaya who won the best speech award in the Bharathiyar Day competition. Prizes were distributed by A A Kingston.
The Vote of Thanks was given by S Kanchana, Head Value Education, Sevalaya, and the event concluded with a National Anthem.
