Sevalaya distributed grocery kits to families of priests of temples/ churches whose livelihood was affected by the COVID Pandemic. 

The priests of many small places of worship in rural areas are the worst hit, as they depend on the contributions from the devotees, which had dwindled during this pandemic period. Hence Sevalaya has organised the distribution of groceries for a month for the families of 300 such affected priests in the neighbourhood of its13 locations.   

 At a function at Sevalaya’s Kasuva centre on 22nd June 2021, V Hari, B.Com, B L,  Union Councillor for Thiruvallur, distributed the kits to the families of 62 such beneficiaries from areas around Kasuva village. Each kit consists of 25 Kg of groceries, including Rice, Toor Dhall, Rava, Wheat flour, idli rice, chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper, and cumin seeds. 

The Chief Guest in his address mentioned that he had been observing the services of V Muralidharan for many years now and is amazed by the expansion of the services. “Service to the needy people at the right time “ was his description of the functioning of Sevalaya. He was particularly appreciative of the selection of the needy beneficiaries across religions. 

Sevalaya has been engaged in relief activities during this pandemic, with the support of many individuals, associations and corporates. 

Earlier V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee welcomed the gathering. A A Kingston, Vice President, Operations proposed the Vote of Thanks.
