A Fitting Tribute to Dr. Abdul Kalam at Sevalaya

“Dr. A.P.J.AbdulKalam would have been happy to see this and SCOPE International is part of this service” said Mr. Edwin Newis, CEO, SCOPE International at the inauguration of Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College New Computer Course on 29th July 2015. The college already conducts 6 months training course in 5 trades and 2 batches have graduated since the college commenced in the year 2014.

It was proposed to start 2 new courses Nursing and Computer Science when SCOPE International offered to support the running of the computer course steps were taken to start the course at the earliest. Students slowly began to register and SCOPE sponsored 20 computers to set up this lab when the nation was stunned to hear about the demise of the India’s best loved President.

One of Kalam’s dream had been introducing technology in the rural areas and the best way to pay tribute to this noble soul would be starting of the course immediately on his passing away.

The new course now has 35 students who have joined so far and they will be taught MS Office, Photoshop and Tally. These children belong to underprivileged section and have completed their X and XII std. They have not got any other opportunity to continue their higher education and now they have joined here. After completion of this course they will be placed in good organizations which will help them to settle easily and also earn for their livelihood.
