They also get to understand their responsibility towards sustainable environment by learning organic farming and other Eco-friendly initiatives. All these together make them confident, well- rounded and self-reliant citizens of the future.

It is a matter of pride that nearly 200 children now are working in various organisations and few are working in various Departments of the Tamilnadu Government in various capacities. More than 30 of them have chosen teaching as their profession. Many students have even contributed their first month salary as donation to Sevalaya!

Sevalaya also sponsors the higher education of these children. Many alumni of Sevalaya are now employees of the organization.

Many of the Home children excel in Sports. They are given special training in athletics, handball, basketball and represent the State in National Level Games.

Many students have also secured college admission on Sports Quota with full sponsorship of tuition fees and Hostel accommodation in various colleges.

Sevalaya needs your support and contribution for the below listed projects which need funding.

Annual Medical Expenses

Blood Sugar, BP, Arthritis etc are common illnesses related to old age which require periodical check – up, constant medication and regular medication.

Sevalaya takes care of the entire gamut of medical assistance required by the senior citizens, which include hospitalization and surgery. The expenses on this score are heavy.

Annual Medical Checkup for the residents is estimated to be Rs. 10,32,000 per annum.

Other Necessities

Apart from ‘Food, clothing and shelter’, there are certain basic necessities for day today living- items like tooth pastes, tooth brushes, soaps, towels, etc. These items are a significant part of our budget.

The required annual budget for toiletries is Rs 1,20,000/-.

For 12 such temple trips in a year at an estimate of Rs.2,10,000 per annum.

Warden Remunerations

Taking care of senior persons & youths, particularly from the background of our residents is undoubtedly a demanding task. For our home to be successful the wardens are to be given a reasonable honorarium. The need at present is more wardens to take care of our wards.

For wardens we require an annual budget of Rs 16,40,311/-.

Provisions

The senior residents are provided coffee/tea, breakfast lunch dinner and snacks in between. The cost of provisions like groceries, oil, rice, dhal etc consume a major chunk of our budget. We are looking forward to you to benevolently take care of this item of our expenses which is estimated at Rs. 24,00,000/-.

Bunker cots for children

In view of the growing needs of ‘Sevalaya’ homes for children and more number of seeking support to into the fold of ‘Sevalaya’, we have to increase the facilities to meet the needs. Presently children sleep on the mats with sheets spread on them.

It would be more comfortable and safe, if children are provided cots and mattresses. In the present hostel space, we can accommodate more number of children with large utility space in the dormitory, if we provide for bunker cots. This will ensure more safety to children from insects, especially during rainy and winter seasons.

Hence 100 bunkers cots (Boys Home 50 + Girls Home 50) bunker cots made of iron with a ladder rods on the leg-side, will accommodate 200 children in both the facilities.
