Sevalaya won the Platinum Award in 5S competition conducted by Quality Circle Forum of India, QCFI. Sevalaya was the sole NGO among the 6 teams that participated in the competition. Sevalaya has planted their footprint firmly in the vast field of 5S under the guidance of their mentor T M Venkatesan, Chairman, FOCUS-5, a Hyderabad based Management training institute. He is currently doing his PhD in Operations Management-Quality at VIT Business School, VIT University. He has a total of 50 years industry exposure both in Manufacturing & Training. He is a Certified Energy Auditor (Govt. Of India) Certified Quality Examiner with RBNQA (2014) and a Certified Master Trainer for ZED Rating & Registered faculty (Quality Council of India), BB in Six Sigma from Benchmark Six Sigma. He has presented research papers at IIT Kharagpur, IIM Indore, IIM Trichy and received Golden Paper Award for his paper at the Pondicherry University in 2018. He has also submitted 2 research papers on Kaizen in Scopus indexed Journal that has been accepted for Publication.
Initially, the training was conducted by M G Murali who took the effort to create 5S culture in Kasuva Centre. After 2 years of trial & error implementation of 5S, Sevalaya participated in the 5S Best Practices competition organized by QCFI in March 2019. M G Murali has worked for more than 38 years in Sundaram Clayton Ltd, Padi. He has worked closely with Japanese Professors and underwent training in TQM and Policy deployment from Prof Tsuda. He is an expert in Project Management with specialization in APQP, PPAP and QFD. He has also compiled 2 books in Machining Fundamentals, Guidelines for Process Planning and Shop Floor Management.
T R Narasimhan, Chairman, QCFI, encouraged the Sevalaya Team to participate in large scale 5S competitions. They were mentored by S Murugan, Secretary, QCFI, from February 2020 who led them to success by winning the prestigious Platinum Award. The meticulous process involved regular audits and staff training by L N Anupriya, TQM Head.
