
Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya an old heritage institution serving the poor and needy was inundated in the December 2015 flood. The incessant rain that battered caused serious damage to the Gandhi study centre of Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya. The building was dilapidated and thousands of valuable books kept in the library, office equipments, systems, and apparatus were washed away.
Thakkar Bapa Vidyalaya commands an emotional pride in the hearts of many for its foundation stone was laid by Mahatma Gandhi himself and served as a centre for spreading his great messages. Besides great leaders and patriots like Rajaji have visited and blessed the activities of this organisation . Sevalaya stepped forward to take initiatives to rehabilitate the building, which commands an historical significance. Sevalaya swiftly jumped into the action by approaching its corporate contacts. L&T InfoTech, an IT Major came forward to contribute fully for the project. With their contribution the reconstruction was carried out at a rapid pace, and the building became ready for occupation. Sevalaya took also possible steps at the planning stage to ensure that the building be constucted in such a manner as to ensure its permanent safety.
On 11th May 2016, the inauguration of the newly constructed building took place in the forenoon in the presence of of eminent persons. Rishikesh Joshi, C.S.R.
