Honesty, Integrity and Ability – 3 qualities to be imbibed from the life of Kamaraj – Minister Mafoi K Pandiarajan

Karmaveerar Kamarajar’s 118th Birthday anniversary was celebrated online by Sevalaya on 15th July 2020.

Participating in the function online from Chennai, Mafoi K Pandiarajan (Hon’ble Minister, Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture, Govt. of TN in his speech, spoke about the contributions of the great leader in the fields of education, agriculture and industry in Tamilnadu.

Under the able leadership of Perunthalaivar Kamaraj, the concept of Govt aided school was introduced, resulting in the increase in the number of schools in the State and the mid-day meals scheme introduced by the leader led to a drastic improvement in the student’s enrollment rate in Primary school. Teachers Training Colleges were opened during the great leader’s regime.

Perunthalaivar Kamarajar was instrumental in the construction of many dams in Tamilnadu bringing about great improvements in agriculture. The farsightedness of the leader in bringing more industries to Tamilnadu has resulted in Tamilnadu securing an important place in the industrial map of India.

Perunthalaivar Kamarajar played an important role in the then Indian National Congress. He was hailed as the King Maker as he was the key person in making Lal Bahadur Shastri the Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru and later making Indra Gandhi assume office as the Prime Minister after Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The Minister spoke about how Kamarajar had a national outlook and was keen to protect the sovereignty of India, with Tamilnadu being an integral part of the nation.

”This is significant in the present times when many divisive forces are trying to divide the nation. There were 52 nations at the end of World War II but now the number of nations is more than 200. This is because many nations have broken down. India is one of the 5 countries which still remains united .and we should protect the sovereignty of our country. “ insisted the Minister.

Minister K Pandiarajan concluded his speech by highlighting 3 qualities which the students have to imbibe from the life of Kamarajar – Honesty, Integrity and ability.

Earlier online competitions were conducted for school students from all over Tamilnadu, in which 600students participated.

S Kanchana, Head Value Education, Sevalaya read out the names of all the prize winners. Prizes were distributed to the winners from local schools on the occasion at Kasuva Centre. Prizes for other students will be couriered to their homes.
