A training program was conducted by Prof Dr S V Mani on 26th April 2017. The session focused on Interpersonal skills at work and the major thrust areas were on communication styles, personality traits and interpersonal skills. Traits such as attitude, courtesy and behavior were discussed. The discussion centered on communication styles such as assertive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, submissive and manipulative and was discussed with examples. Twenty staff from the campus and city office participated in the session.
The dynamics of interpersonal skills within a team was also discussed in fair detail which included setting of goals, assigning of roles and communicating within a group.
A key learning was the importance of body-language and the need to adapt the right posture to deliver the correct message. Another was never to discuss issues if no solutions are in sight. The session was wrapped up with the need to control anger. Overall the session was rich in content, entertaining and interactive.
