5 KW solar power plant inaugurated at Sevalaya’s Old Age Home at Thanjavur

A5 KW Solar power plant has been set up at Sevalaya’s Gandhi Ashram Krishnan memorial old age home at Thanjavur with the objective of tapping alternative sources of energy to provide uninterrupted power supply to the destitute elderly at the Home.

On 04th August 2021, K Marimuthu, B.com, Honourable Member of the Legislative Assembly, Thiruthuraipoondi, Thiruvarur District, was the special guest at the event and launched the project.

Founder and Managing trustee V Muralidharan in his welcome speech said that for the past 33 years, Sevalaya has been providing free education, medicine, rural development, homes for orphans and nursing homes, dry cow farm, assistance during natural disasters, and various other services through its 15 branches in Tamil Nadu and 1 in Pondicherry. Many environment-friendly projects as tree planting, organic farming, gobar gas production, Solar street lights are being implemented by Sevalaya, Sevalaya also encourages villagers to adopt organic farming methods.

The Chief Guest in his address, expressed his happiness to see Sevalaya providing the basic necessities such as food, clothing, entertainment free of charge to any helpless elderly people abandoned by their children. He also mentioned that the promotion of organic farming was a great initiative for the betterment of society hoped to see the expansion of Sevalaya’s service in many places.

T K Krishna Murthy, Municipal Secretary, Rudrapathi M, District Secretary, M Balasubramanian, District Treasurer, N Kannan, Ward Councilor attended the function.

AA Kingston, Vice President Operations, Sevalaya proposed a vote of thanks and the function came to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
