KONE Elevator India and Sevalaya Bring ₹45 Lakh Community Hall to Life in Puthu Nallur Village, Kanchipuram

 As part of its CSR activities, KONE Elevator India sponsored the construction of a Community Hall at Puthu Nallur Village in Poonthandalam Panchayat, Kundrathur Block, Kanchipuram district. Sevalaya was the implementation partner of the project. The Community Hall was inaugurated on 6th January 2025 in the presence of dignitaries and village representatives. 

John Daniel, Vice President, Supply Chain, KONE Elevator India and T Arumugam General Manager, ISU, KONE Elevator India graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Built at the cost of ₹45 lakhs, the 1,200 square feet Community Hall is expected to benefit around 5,000 residents in the locality. 

Speaking on the occasion, John Daniel expressed his gratitude to the village administration and its people for their support. He also thanked Sevalaya for the successful completion of the project. He also shared that KONE will continue to support the community in the future and requested the villagers to keep the place clean and safe. Ammu, a wage labourer from Nallur Village, shared that till this day, they did not have a proper facility to host family functions or public gatherings. These events were held in a small open area with no amenities. She also added that all the villagers were extremely happy with this support and extended their heartfelt thanks to KONE and Sevalaya for their generous contribution. 

Earlier V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya welcomed the gathering and explained how the needs of the villagers came to the fore in 2021 during another project and expressed happiness that the project has come to fruition today. 

G Ramanathan, Trustee, Sevalaya delivered the Vote of Thanks. Mementos were presented to the Chief Guests. 

Sevalaya is a registered charitable trust headquartered in Chennai, operating since 1988. More than 2,200 underprivileged children are provided free education at their campus located near Thiruninravur. Spread across 40+ centres in South India, Sevalaya also provides skill development courses for youth, runs After-School Study Centres, Children and Old Age Homes, Hospitals, healthcare and rural development projects, gaushalas and organic farms, with all its services provided free of cost, reaching nearly 10,00,000 beneficiaries in 37 years.
