Sevalaya’s first National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit was inaugurated on 27 July 2026 at Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School in Kasuva village, near Thiruninravur, Tiruvallur.
Col Tushar Pandey, Commanding Officer, 13 Tamil Nadu Battalion NCC, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Col Tushar Pandey appreciated Sevalaya for its remarkable service to society and thanked the management for establishing an NCC unit at the school. He said that Sevalaya is the first charitable organisation to be enrolled in his battalion. He explained that before approving a new NCC unit, the team carefully assesses the school, its infrastructure and accessibility. Although the school was located in a rural setting, his team had highly recommended Sevalaya for serving rural underprivileged children, following which he approved the proposal.
He also congratulated the first batch of 25 NCC cadets from Classes VIII and IX. He encouraged the cadets to make full use of the opportunities offered by the NCC and prepare well for the ‘A’ Certificate Examination to be conducted next year. He further congratulated Sri Vaishnavi Devi K, Sevalaya’s NCC Coordinator (CTO), for having represented Tamil Nadu at the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi. The Chief Guest also inaugurated the NCC Room.
Earlier, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya, welcomed the gathering and shared Sevalaya’s vision, mission and service activities. Students presented engaging cultural performances. Sri Vaishnavi Devi K, NCC Coordinator (CTO), Sevalaya, delivered the Vote of Thanks. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest.
