Sevalaya celebrates Children’s Day with children at Paediatrics Ward of Government Medical
College Hospital, Thiruvallur
Sevalaya NGO staff and students of Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School,
Kasuva, Thiruvallur celebrated Children’s Day with children in the Paediatrics Ward of
Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvallur on 14 November 2024.
Dr S Sridevi, Associate Professor, Government Medical College and Hospital, Thiruvallur was
the Chief Guest on the occasion.
V P Anand Kumar Jain, Anand Medical Agencies, Thiruvallur, S Rajesh Kumar Jain, Proprietor,
Jain Jewellers, Thiruvallur and Sr A Uma, Assistant Nursing Supervisor, Government Medical
College and Hospital, Thiruvallur also graced the occasion.
In her speech, Dr S Sridevi, thanked Sevalaya for conducting Children’s Day programmes at the
hospital every year and highlighted how Sevalaya art teachers and volunteers took the initiative
to paint the walls of the Paediatric ward with colourful paintings in order to provide a happy
environment for the children.
V P Anand Kumar Jain wished the children a happy Children’s Day and shared that he would
extend support to Sevalaya. S Rajesh Kumar Jain thanked Sevalaya for their initiative to
celebrate the special day.
Earlier, welcoming the guests on the occasion, Amarchand Jain Executive Committee Member,
Sevalaya spoke about Sevalaya’s services in education, skill development, healthcare and rural
development.
Health kits containing fruits and biscuits were gifted to the children at the Paediatric wards by
the Chief Guests and children from Sevalaya school.
Children from Sevalaya school presented colourful cultural performances.
Dr K C Sundar, Assistant Professor, Government Medical College and Hospital, Thiruvallur
delivered the Vote of Thanks and praised Sevalaya for this novel initiative. Sevalaya staff
presented mementos to the Chief Guests.
Sevalaya is a registered charitable trust headquartered in Chennai, operating since 1988. More
than 2,200 underprivileged children are provided education at their campus located near
Thiruninravur. Spread across 30 centres in South India, Sevalaya also provides skill development
courses for youth, runs children and old age homes, hospitals, healthcare and rural
development projects, gaushalas and organic farms, with all its services provided free of cost,
reaching nearly 8,00,000 beneficiaries in 36 years.
Children’s Day was also celebrated by Sevalaya at Stanley Medical College and Hospital,
Chennai and Government Hospitals in Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur,
Tenkasi and Mayiladuthurai.
