As part of its CSR activities, BorgWarner Cooling Systems India Private
Limited took up the restoration of a 100 year old polluted 2.5 acre pond
at Kaduvancheri village in Sriperumbudur. At a cost of over ₹78 lakhs,
the pond has been cleaned and restored with its capacity increased from
33,600 metric tonnes to 44,800 metric tonnes. The project is expected to
benefit over 13,000 villagers. Solar lights have also been installed around
the perimeter enhancing its beauty and safety. At an event held on 28 Mar 2025,
Shailesh Jha, Plant Head and CSR Committee members from BorgWarner Cooling
Systems inaugurated the restored pond in the presence of village representatives
and Sevalaya staff members. In his speech, Jha stated that his company is
committed to serving the communities where its factories operate. He emphasised
that addressing essential needs is a priority for investment, with water
conservation being a key focus. “We must save water during the off-season
to improve groundwater levels. This pond is a valuable resource. Though it
is dry now, once the rains arrive, it will fulfill the community’s needs,” he
said. He urged the villagers to keep the pond clean and safe and assured
them that his company would continue supporting such initiatives. Jha also
mentioned that this was the third project with Sevalaya under the CSR initiatives.
Earlier, Sevalaya Murali, Founder and Managing Trustee, in his welcome address,
highlighted Sevalaya’s partnership with BorgWarner, which has successfully
completed three pond cleaning projects. He urged the villagers to maintain
the pond’s cleanliness. As a commitment, 75 villagers took an oath to
preserve the pond. C Vasantha, President, Vadamangalam Panchayat delivered
the Vote of Thanks. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by P Prasanna,
