
On 76th Republic Day, 26 Jan 2025, Sevalaya celebrated the occasion with
a blood donation camp and a farewell for Std XII students at its Kasuva Centre.
S Sowrirajan, Director, Ashwas Industries Ltd, Zambia graced the occasion as
the Chief Guest and unfurled the national flag. This was followed by a soulful
rendition of the flag song. Students performed a variety of cultural programmes
showcasing traditional art forms..The Chief Guest expressed admiration for Sevalaya’s
work, likening it to Bharathi’s dream of societal upliftment. He urged alumni to
contribute towards Sevalaya’s sustainability and added that his organisation would
also extend support to Sevalaya.Dr Deepa from Chennai Blood Bank lauded Sevalaya’s
consistent contributions to blood donation drives since 2012, benefiting thousands
annually. Alumnus Selvamani R, Software Developer, Saint Gobain spoke warmly about
Sevalaya’s unwavering support throughout his education and career, emphasising the
lifelong bond between Sevalaya and its students.The monthly manuscript magazine
‘Vidiyal’ prepared by students with the guidance of teachers was released on the occasion.
The blood donation camp, inaugurated by the Chief Guest saw active participation from over
100 donors. Organised by B Rajeshwari, a Sevalaya alumna and teacher, the event highlighted
alumni involvement in giving back to the community. A farewell was organised by Sevalaya’s
Alumni Association for the outgoing Std XII batch of 160 students. Students shared moving
testimonials about Sevalaya’s impact on their lives.
Earlier, Kingston A A, VP, Operations, Sevalaya delivered the welcome address, introducing
the guests and dignitaries. V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, narrated Sevalaya’s
journey, highlighting its contributions to society through education, healthcare and rural
development including organic farming initiatives. He also underscored the vital role that
alumni play in strengthening Sevalaya’s future and encouraged students to remain connected
with Sevalaya and practise gratitude by giving back to society.
The occasion was celebrated across Sevalaya centres in South India including Sevalaya
Nilgiris- Gudalur and centres in Ambattur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Dharmapuri, Kanchipuram,
Tenkasi and Thanjavur. Sevalaya is a registered charitable trust headquartered in Chennai,
operating since 1988. More than 2,200 underprivileged children are provided free education
at their campus located near Thiruninravur. Spread across 40+ centres in South India, Sevalaya
also provides skill development courses for youth, runs After-School Study Centres, Children
and Old Age Homes, Hospitals, healthcare and rural development projects, gaushalas and organic
farms, with all its services provided free of cost, reaching nearly 10,00,000 beneficiaries in 37 years.
