Sevalaya target 5000 trees: Unique seed balls to villagers

Involving children and keeping them as the target audience, V Arivarasan and G Dharakeswari working in the private sector, explained about organic farming, seed planting, and nature during their visit to the campus on 13th January 2017. It was after lunch that the children were in for a surprise. V Arivarasan and G Dharakeswari explained the concept of seed balls!! First they mixed water with red soil. When it turned clay, they added some vermicompost and planted a seed inside and made a seed ball!! The children observed the event carefully and went about making hundreds of them. Farm workers and all the hostel children participated with gusto and within no time the entire area was filled with seed balls!! They then distributed the seed balls to the nearby 42 villages. Nurturing the seed balls into trees is the next objective of the children.
