Water ATM – Sevalaya – Asian paints provide RO water

Adhigathur, a remote village in Thiruvallur district was identified as a test village to provide RO water to the families, living in the village. The project was funded by Asian paints and implemented by Sevalaya.

Water ATM is a novel concept, where the village drinking water, stored in the municipal tank is cleaned through an RO filtration system and provided to the villages. This eliminates the hardness of the water, which can then be safely used for drinking purposes. It is provided at a subsidised rate of ₹ 2/- (₹ Two only), considered as maintenance cost, for 15 litres of water. About 500 families have been provided with a ‘Water ATM card’. They can refill the ATM card at the local panchayat office and continue to draw water based on their needs.

Mr S Vinod, Manager, Security, Asian Paints inaugurated the plant, while Mr Nedoumarane Manjini, Manager plant accounts issued the MasterCard. Mr M Deepan, Officer Level II Plant Materials, Mr J Pradeep Kumar, Officer Level I, Plant Accounts and Mr M Dellibabu, Officer Level I, Plant Accounts distributed the ATM cards to the beneficiaries.
