Sevalaya, a registered charitable organisation celebrated its 36th Annual day at Kasuva village near Thirunindravur, Thiruvallur district on 27th July 2024. Rtn Narendra Srisrimal, Chairman, Medi Sales Group and President, Rotary Club of Madras T Nagar, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Sevalaya’s Board of Trustees and various prominent donors also graced the occasion. Sevalaya has been working for the underprivileged since 1988. The school at Kasuva provides free education to over 2200 underprivileged children. Releasing Sevalaya’s 36th Annual Report for 2023-2024, Srisrimal congratulated Sevalaya on the remarkable milestone. He praised Sevalaya’s Founder and Managing Trustee V Muralidharan for his selfless service of 36 years. He remarked that while many can donate money, to devote one’s time for service for 36 years was a supreme achievement. He also advised the students to focus on their studies so that irrespective of their economic background, they too can become a successful person like him in future. During the event, the Chief Guest presented awards to staff members of Sevalaya who had completed 5,10,15 years of service with the organisation. The guests also presented awards instituted by donors to the students scoring the highest marks in the Std XII and Std X board exams. Awards were also presented by the donors to students topping the Std XI exams, students scoring highest marks in Tamil, Science and Physics subjects in Std X and XII. Awards were also presented to Sevalaya’s Best Supporters, Best Student of the Year, Rising Star Employee and Best Employee. The event featured colourful cultural performances by the students. Earlier, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sevalaya, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the Chief Guest, Srisrimal rise from a poor economic background to providing employment to 3000+ people today. In his speech, he also recalled how 36 years ago, Sevalaya was started in a small hut with 5 children with Sevalaya’s inspiring icons Mahakavi Bharathiyar, Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda as the guiding lights. He remarked that the same tradition was being followed even after 36 years but Sevalaya have spread to 30 centres across South India. Sevalaya Executive Committee Member Amarchand Jain delivered the Vote of Thanks and requested the guests to spread the message of Sevalaya’s service to everyone around them.The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.With 30 centres across the 5 South Indian states, Sevalaya also offers free vocational training for youth, runs children and old age homes, organic farms and rural healthcare, implements environmental projects and village development projects in collaboration with corporates and funding agencies. More than 8,00,000 beneficiaries have been positively impacted throughSevalaya’s activities.
