Meghalaya’s former Governor V Shanmuganathan’s advice to students at Rajaji Day celebrations
V Shanmuganathan, Former Governor of Meghalaya was the chief Guest at the Rajaji Day celebrations at Kasuva centre of Sevalaya on 12th December 2021.
A book in Tamil “ Saadhi Baedhathai thagarththa Rajaji” (Rajaji who demolished the caste differences) compiled by Dr K Kannan s/o freedom fighter GandhiAhramKrishnan was released by the Chief Guest on the occasion. V S V Ramanan, Editor, Kalki magazine received the first copy.
The Chief Guest in his address highlighted the 3 values to be inculcated by the students
1 Go to temple and Pray regularly 2. Never ever touch alcohol and 3 Always be honest.
The Chief Guest further stated that these 3 values were considered very important by Rajaji. Rajaji had worked for legislating Prohibition in the State and was known for his honesty and integrity in public life. He guided the students to take an oath to adhere to the above 3 values.
Receiving the first copy, Ramanan said that it is very important that all teachers should read this book.
Dr K Kannan, in his speech, said that it is very important to bury the differences based on caste and said the book will be very useful for the students and the teaches to understand the need to live harmoniously
Earlier various competitions were conducted for students all over the State.476 students from 38 states participated in the competitions. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions.
Sevalaya Murali welcomed the gathering. S Kanchana, Head – Value Education proposed a Vote of Thanks.
The function ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
