
The inauguration of various infrastructure projects completed with the
financial assistance of Page Pierre Foundation, Switzerland was held at
Sevalaya’s Kasuva centre near Thiruninravur on 12 Feb 2025.
Page Pierre and Professor Daniel Oyon of the Page Pierre Foundation were the
Chief Guests.Page Pierre Foundation has been helping to build basic infrastructure
at Sevalaya for the past 16 years. Their support in 2024 included paver block
flooring for the school campus to help children during floods, construction
of compound walls and expansion of children’s play area. They also provided
support for painting, CCTV and network installation and girls’ home flooring.
The total project cost amounted to Rs 10,639,041.(approx) Professor Oyon,
marking his 15th year visiting Sevalaya, expressed his strong bond with
the organization and praised its progress. He reaffirmed his commitment to
return next year. Page Pierre appreciated the children's performances and
praised the growth of Sevalaya over the past 15 years, crediting its success
to Sevalaya Murali and his team. He also shared insights from his travels through
Bandipur and Gudalur, highlighting the challenges faced by tribal communities and
the opportunities for development. Sevalaya Murali, Founder and Managing Trustee,
welcomed the guests and thanked Page Pierre Foundation for extending their support
to underprivileged communities. As a token of appreciation, Page Pierre and Professor
Oyon gave a custom-made giant Toblerone chocolate bar, the renowned and iconic
brand from Switzerland to thestudents who received them with joy. Sevalaya Murali
gifted the guests with calendars and a book, "Jamsetji Tata: Lessons for
Corporate Success." by R Gopalakrishnan and
Harish Bhat. Sevalaya students performed a colorful cultural show, including
a lively Western dance, which impressed the guests.
In his vote of thanks, G Ramanathan, Trustee of Sevalaya, highlighted Page
Pierre’s long association with Sevalaya since 1988. He thanked the Page Pierre
Foundation for its contributions to education, healthcare, and rural development.
He also appreciated the children’s performances and the teachers for their dedication.
Friends and family members of Page Pierre and Professor Daniel Oyon also graced the
occasion.
