Krishna Jayanthi and Teachers’ Day were celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sevalaya’s Kasuva centrenear Thiruninravur in Tiruvallur district on 5 September 2026.
Rohit Kumar, Branch Manager, Indian Bank, Thiruninravur Branch, was the Chief Guest. Sevalaya well- wisher Vijay Iyer was also present. Addressing the students, the Chief Guest said, “Education is extremely important. Equally important are humanity, good values and character. Keeping this in mind, students should respect their teachers and strive to succeed in life.”
Vijay Iyer said, “A teacher’s role is to kindle curiosity and interest among students. Teachers are equal to God. The achievements of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and Dr B R Ambedkar were shaped by their teachers. Therefore, students should respect their teachers, learn good things from them and progress in life.”
Earlier, Sevalaya Founder and Managing Trustee V Muralidharan welcomed the gathering. He said that all festivals are celebrated at Sevalaya with the objective of giving students opportunities to learn about different aspects of life and culture. Recalling his visit to the school where former President Dr S Radhakrishnan studied, he said, “Dr Radhakrishnan studied in a small school, went on to become a teacher and eventually served as the President of India.
If he could achieve so much, our students, who study in a school with all facilities, can also achieve great things.” “The Chief Guest is from Bihar, but he is making an effort to speak in Tamil today. Similarly, if we have to go to another State for work, we should make an effort to learn the local language. It is said that 500 words are enough to communicate what is necessary. Students should therefore be interested in learning different languages,” he said.
He also highlighted Sevalaya’s Gokulam initiative for the children of teachers and said that celebrating Krishna Jayanthi in a place filled with children was particularly appropriate. He recalled that the birth anniversary of freedom fighter V O Chidambaram Pillai also falls on the day and said, “He worked for the nation without worrying about loss of his property. Let us remember him as well on this day.” During the event, Sevalaya employees who completed their work anniversaries were honoured with silver coins. Students presented colourful cultural performances. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijaya, Head-Education, Sevalaya said, “Our centre has taken on a festive look today as 300 Montessori children have come here dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha. The Chief Guest’s perseverance and hard work have helped him reach his present position. Our children too need his guidance.” She also added, “Sevalaya has several departments, and Muralidharan Sir and Bhuvana Madam provide guidance to all these departments. Therefore, they are our best teachers.” and extended her Teachers’ Day greetings to everyone.
