The 7 feet Chellamma Bharathi Statue Rath Yatra at Chennai

The journey of the Chellamma Bharathi statue on the 4th day, 20 April 22, was a very eventful one.

Rajkumar Bharathi, Great grandson garlanded the statue at Annanagar. 94 year old Smt Lalitha, the granddaughter who was brought up by Chellamma was emotional and expressed her joy to see the statue as she is not in a position to travel to Kadayam.

As the Ratham reached Bharathiyar Illam in Triplicane, Sevalaya’s children from school and orphanage performed folk dances, Silambatam, etc. Chief Guest. Kirambur Sankara Subramaniyan, Editor, Klaimagal garlanded the statue. Mohan, Chairman, Gandhi Study centre, participated with enthusiasm by singing a composition of Bharathiyar and encouraged the children to join him.
The ratham then reached Mylapore and was received by Ramaswamy, President, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan with garlands and flowers. The employees of Bhavan also paid their respects to the couple. Ratham then proceeded to other centers of Sevalaya, Admin office at Alwarpet where it was received by the staff. Srinivasan, Secretary, Residents Association garlanded the statue with his family.

Then the Ratham proceeded to Ramakrishna Mutt where the statue was honored by Swami Apavargananda, Editor, Sri Ramakrishna Vijayam and other devotees at the mutt. They played floral tributes and Swamiji distributed refreshment to the staff and the students who accompanied the ratham.

Finally the ratham reached Pattinapakkam, a unit of Sevalaya. The chief guests were Udhayam Ram and Padmini Pattabiram of Uratha Sinthanai. They garlanded the statues and paid respects.
The ratham started his journey towards Kadayam on 17th April 2022, from Sevalaya Kasuva and will be travelling through various districts of Tamil Nadu and reaching Kadayam on 31st May 22. It will be installed on 27th June on the occasion of 125th Wedding Anniversary of Chellamma and Bharathi .
