Sevalaya Arts and Craft team visited BNY Mellon to teach their staff the art of making paper bags from newspapers. 3 types of paper bags – Small (Height -6.5”), Medium (Height – 10”) and Large (Height – 13.5”) which can hold weights up to 1.5 kgs, 3 kgs, and 5 kgs respectively. These bags were from newspapers, with a patti holding a nylon rope, for the handle. It took about 10-15 minutes to make a bag, and, the staff of BNY Mellon participated enthusiastically. They found it to be a new and rewarding experience. There were five batches in all and it was fun to see each batch busy trying to outdo the other. The staff donated the bags back to Sevalaya to sell and utilise the proceeds. Nice gesture, indeed!
