Actress Revathi Celebrates Eco-Friendly Vinayagar Chaturthi at Sevalaya NGO
Renowned film personality and veteran actress, Revathi Asha Kelunni celebrated Vinayagar
Chaturthi at Sevalaya NGO, Kasuva Centre, near Thiruninravur, Thiruvallur district, on 7th
September 2024.
After lighting the ceremonial lamp, the Chief Guest garlanded the statue of Lord Ganesha. The
idol was a special ‘Seed Ganesha,’ made from biodegradable mud with a plant seed embedded
inside. After the festival, the idol can be dissolved, allowing the seed to be planted and
nurtured into a sapling, making the celebration environmentally friendly.
Speaking on the occasion, Revathi said, “Since joining Sevalaya as a donor, I have found
immense happiness in life. I would like to thank the students and staff of Sevalaya for making
this possible.”
Earlier, L N Anupriya, Head of Quality and Volunteering, welcomed the Chief Guest and
delivered the welcome address. Sevalaya students presented vibrant cultural performances,
and R Vijaya, Head of Education, presented a memento to the Chief Guest on behalf of
Sevalaya.
MT Anandan, Head of Homes, proposed the vote of thanks.
Sevalaya, headquartered in Chennai, is a registered charitable trust that has been operating for
the past 36 years in the fields of education, skill development, children’s and old age homes,
healthcare, rural development, and disaster relief, reaching over 800,000 beneficiaries.
Sevalaya’s school provides free education to nearly 2,200 students from underprivileged
backgrounds and also runs a destitute children’s home and an old age home at its Kasuva
campus.
