An RO plant with a capacity of purifying 1000 lph (litres per hour) was installed and inaugurated at Singerinagar, Periyavijiambakkam village in Chengelpet District on 19th February 2020. The project worth Rs 8 lacs executed by Sevalaya was sponsored by Timken India Ltd. Singerinagar has around 450 families. The groundwater was unpotable and the water supplied by Panchayat was also not enough to meet their needs. Now with the installation of RO, the families get a sufficient quantity of clean water. Inaugurating the RO plant, J Madhan, Manager HR, Timken India said that his company was happy to partner with Sevalaya and sponsor this project of providing clean drinking water, which is a basic essential need, to the villagers. He appealed to the villagers to maintain the plant well and make the best use of the facility. B Anandakumar, Panchayat Secretary, S Ravichandran, former Panchayat President, S Ghouse Basha, Kantankolathur Panchayat Union Secretary, and members of the Women’s Self Help Group in the village participated in the function.
