
Sevalaya’s Kasuva centre situated near Thiruninravur, Thiruvallur district celebrated Gandhi
Jayanthi and Navaratri on 5 October 2024. A Karpagam, Sub-Divisional Magistrate and
Revenue Divisional Officer, Thiruvallur and V Ganesh, Consultant, Tata Consultancy Services
were the Chief Guests on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, A Karpagam praised Sevalaya’s services and underlined the need
for a service mindset in the younger generation. V Ganesh in his speech quoted the Tamil
epic ‘Seevaga Sindhamani’ and remarked that education was the greatest indestructible gift
that one could bestow upon others and that the students of Sevalaya were receiving such a
gift in their lives.
To mark Gandhi Jayanthi, various competitions were conducted by Sevalaya on the theme
‘MyGandhi’ for college students. Around 80 students from across Tamil Nadu participated in
the competitions. The winning students were awarded prizes by the Chief Guests. The Chief
Guests also presented the Best Employee Award to S Mariyammal, Science Teacher, on the
occasion. The award was sponsored by R Venkataramani, a Sevalaya donor.
A creative Navaratri Golu arrangement is showcased at the campus marking the 9 day
Navaratri festival. Sevalaya Old Age Home residents presented colourful cultural
performances during the event.
Earlier, Sevalaya Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya welcomed the
gathering. Kingston A A, VP- Operations delivered the Vote of Thanks.
Sevalaya is a registered charitable trust headquartered in Chennai, operating since 1988.
More than 2200 underprivileged children are provided education at their campus located
near Thiruninravur. Spread across 30 centres in South India, Sevalaya also provides skill
development courses for youth, runs children and old age homes, hospitals, healthcare and
rural development projects, gaushalas and organic farms, with all its services provided free
of cost.
