Sevalaya and Fortess Inaugurate New Digital Literacy Programme at Two Tirunelveli Schools

On 16 Mar 2026, Sevalaya and Fortess inaugurated Digital Literacy Programmes at Thiru Thayumana Sundaram Middle School, Sivanthipatti, and Government Higher Secondary School, Thulukkarpatti, in Tirunelveli district.

Fortess has sponsored the programmes, and Sevalaya, a registered charitable trust headquartered in Chennai, is the implementation partner. Equipped with 13 desktop computers, each centre will provide basic software and computer skills to more than 310 students from Std III to IX.

S Kumar, Founder and CEO, Skylark Enterprises, Chennai, B Rajanikanth, Founder and CEO, IARM Cybersecurity Services, P R Krishnan, Secretary, Fortess and Former EVP, TCS and K Subramanian, Former Global Head, Delivery Excellence, TCS, graced the occasion as Chief Guests.

Inaugurating the event, P R Krishnan said that the future belongs to the digital world and encouraged students to learn computer skills and make the best use of the opportunity. He shared that during their school days computers were not available and advised students to utilise the facilities provided and develop digital skills.

K Subramanian referred to the story of the rabbit and the turtle and encouraged students to give their best efforts in everything they do and strive to achieve greater success. S Kumar said that Tirunelveli is his birthplace and that he studied in the same school. He encouraged the students to continuously improve their knowledge, learn new things and make use of the opportunities provided to them.

Earlier, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya, welcomed the gathering. P Thangam, Headmaster – Thiru Thayumana Sundaram Middle School, delivered the Vote of Thanks. Mementos were presented to the Chief Guests. A Sherbin Arul, Headmaster – Government Higher Secondary School, Thulukkarpatti, P Thangam, Headmaster, Thiru Thayumana Sundaram Middle School, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya Sevalaya staff members, students and teachers also participated in the event. Sevalaya also conducts similar Digital Literacy Programmes in Chennai, Sirkali, Thillaiyadi and
Kancheepuram for thousands of rural underprivileged students.
