Navin Ramanathan, Senior Director and Ramesh Venkatachari, Director, Oracle
Global Service Center graced the occasion as Chief Guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Naveen Ramanathan said it was hard to believe
how Sevalaya’s Founder Muralidharan envisioned such a place of service at a
young age. “On Labour Day, here I see labour of love and labour of sympathy”
he said. He said the staff at Sevalaya were working with a service mindset
and concluded by saying that he salutes their real labour. Ramesh
Venkatachari in his speech said, “Good deeds require good thoughts. Good
thoughts need to be accompanied by hard work. As humans, the work we do
outside is visible. But all our internal organs are also working 24 hours
a day. On this day, we should pay respect to all hard workers”. He advised
the students to work hard, build a good career and give back to Sevalaya.
Staff members celebrating their birthdays during the month were presented
books as gifts. Earlier V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee,
Sevalaya welcomed the gathering. “As far as Sevalaya is concerned, Bharathi,
Gandhi and Vivekananda are the bosses. All the rest of us are workers”,
he said. Outlining Sevalaya’s activities, he spoke about how Sevalaya was
not just providing training in tailoring to underprivileged women who suffer
due to their husbands but also providing them with free sewing machines,
raising their living standard. Sevalaya even provides them with employment
opportunities such as stitching uniforms that pays them a salary, he added.
Across education, health and rural development, Sevalaya has reached more
than 10 lakh beneficiaries, he concluded. Students presented engaging
cultural performances. A memento was presented to the Chief Guests by M Rajesh,
Senior Donor Relations Officer, Sevalaya. N Navin Kumar, AVP, Donor
