As part of its CSR activities, Komatsu India Private Limited has sponsored two After-School Study Centres for rural tribal children in Sitteri Post, Pappireddipatti Block, Dharmapuri district.
Sevalaya is the implementation partner of the project worth ₹12.5 lakhs, which also includes 2 centres in B R Hills district, Karnataka. The two centres in Mannur and Pereri villages were inaugurated on 12 Jun 2026.
S K Nadiga, Sr Manager, HR & GA, T Vasudevan, Manager – F & A, and D Rajaganeshan, Assistant Manager, HR & GA from Komatsu India graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guests said: “Study well and make full use of this opportunity. We have come from far away to be with you today because we believe in your potential. Study hard, succeed in life and build a bright future for yourselves. If you work sincerely and develop the right skills, we would be happy to see you join our organisation one day.”
Snacks, bags and notebooks were distributed to the students by the Chief Guests. Komatsu India already sponsors two other centres in Arasanatham and Kalasapadi villages in the same area, with a total of 8 centres across Dharmapuri and B R Hills, Karnataka.
Sevalaya runs a total of 50 After-School Study Centres across Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. Earlier, Muralidharan V, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya, welcomed everyone and said: “These centres are run in collaboration with IIT Madras; Vidya Shakti initiative. We identify educational needs in these remote locations and provide after-school learning support for underprivileged and tribal students. Equipped with smart boards and audio-visual facilities, the centres enable students to attend online classes conducted by IIT faculty.” Mementos were presented to the Chief Guests.
