Grand inauguration of Bakery unit at Sevalaya

On the auspicious Tamil New Year day a new Bakery unit was inaugurated at Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College located in Kasuva village.

This unit will teach and train the local youth with skills to bake cakes, puffs, cookies and other confectionery. This is the first of its kind in a 10 KM radius. The course will be for duration of six months. Certificates will be issued on completion of the course and we expect this to be a passport for many youth in the near future.

Speaking on the occasion, ‘Hot Breads’ Mahadevan (Chairman and Managing Director, Oriental Cuisines Pvt Ltd) Breads, who is sponsoring the Bakery unit at Sevalaya,  said that life skill education important in today’s life and the students of this community college has got a nice opportunity to come well in their lives. He went on to say that if one learns a skill, there’s no need to worry for life. Mr. Mahadevan also said that setting up this unit at Sevalaya is a small step and that the partnership can expand to great heights in the future.

Mr. R Thiagarajan (Retd IAS) recalled his experiences in assisting the underprivileged during his tenure. He also said that dedication in work and products with high quality will always have a market.

Sevalaya community colleges in Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts teach a bouquet of skills including Tally, E-publishing, AC and Refrigeration maintenance, Electrical wiring, Beautician and Nursing assistant.

The inauguration of the Bakery unit also coincided with Easter celebrations at the campus.
