Sevalaya provided relief materials, consisting of living essentials to 1338 families in Thiruvallur, Chennai, Cuddalore and Kanchipuram districts during the recent floods. Sevalaya was the first NGO to start the rehabilitation to the flood affected victims, by reconstructing homes in villages in Thiruvallur district. The families, whose homes were severely affected in the floods, are eagerly waiting to occupy their newly constructed homes. The first three homes were sponsored by a generous donor. We expect to start reconstruction of another 25 homes by April 2016. Apart from this, Sevalaya and L&T Infotech teamed up for empowerment of women and provided 50 sewing machines to Irula community women. L&T Infotech sponsored the sewing machines on the occasion of International Women’s day on March 8, 2016.
