As part of its CSR activities, BorgWarner Cooling Systems India Private Limited took up the restoration of a polluted 1 lakh sq ft pond at Kannanthangal village in Sriperumbudur and various infrastructure projects at Mambakkam village in Kancheepuram.
Sevalaya was the implementation partner for this project. At a cost of ₹1.05 crore, the pond has been cleaned and restored with its capacity increased from 23 million to 32.95 million litres. The project is expected to benefit over 13,000 villagers. Solar lights have also been installed around the perimeter enhancing its beauty and safety. At Mambakkam, the infrastructure provided includes, truss sheets and paver blocks at a cost of ₹16 lakhs at the school and ICDS building.
At an event held on 31 Mar 2026, CSR Committee members from BorgWarner Cooling Systems inaugurated the infrastructure projects and the restored pond in the presence of village representatives and Sevalaya staff members.
Kumaresan, Finance Manager, represented BorgWarner Cooling Systems said he has known Sevalaya for over 20 years as a native of Thiruninravur. He shared his appreciation for Sevalaya’s longstanding grassroots work and its meaningful partnership in community development initiatives.
Earlier, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sevalaya, delivered the welcome address. He highlighted that Sevalaya, now in its 39th year, runs free schools, hospitals, homes for children and elders, and several rural development initiatives, reaching more than 1.8 million beneficiaries across India. He also noted Sevalaya’s longstanding engagement and development work in Mambakkam village.
Sagayam, Headmistress – PUMS School, delivered the Vote of Thanks. A memento was presented to the chief guest by N Navin Kumar, AVP – Donor Relations, Sevalaya.
