Ben Line Agencies Inaugurates Solar Street Lights at Sevalaya Kasuva Campus on 12th March 2023

As part of its CSR activities, Ben Line Agencies Private Limited sponsored
the installation of solar street lights at Sevalaya’s Kasuva campus near
Thiruninravur. The project was inaugurated by Gautam K Murthy, Regional
General Manager, Finance (South Asia), Ben Line Agencies Private Limited,
on 12 Mar 2025. H Mritsaa, Regional HR Lead, and Nandha Gopal S,
Regional Assistant Manager, Health and Safety Quality also participated.
The event commenced with an inspiring rendition of Bharathiyar’s Achamillai
song and vibrant cultural performances, including a traditional Karakattam
dance. Murthy expressed his joy in witnessing the happiness of the children,
noting that true illumination comes from knowledge, which is the real source
of power. He encouraged students to utilise the available facilities,
engage in sports and develop good hobbies, emphasising that they are the
future of India. Mritsaa in her speech appreciated the dedicated service of
Sevalaya’s team and commended the children’s performances. She encouraged
students to draw inspiration from their surroundings while also focusing on
extracurricular activities that contribute to holistic development.
Nandha Gopal, reminisced about his own school days and shared his happiness
in seeing the children’s enthusiasm. He stressed the importance of education
in shaping a bright future and praised Sevalaya’s vision and long-standing
commitment to sustainability. The solar street lights serve as a testament
to this commitment, ensuring a well-lit environment that promotes safety
and productivity in the campus. The guests were taken on a tour around the
campus and they saw all the activities of the organisations.
Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya, Muralidharan V welcomed the guests
and spoke about Sevalaya’s 37-year-long service to society, focusing on free
education and quality learning, including the development of Montessori
education. He highlighted the support provided to homeless children, the
elderly, and animals through the gaushala, along with essential healthcare
and medical assistance. He emphasised the significance
of sustainability in Sevalaya’s operations, particularly in electricity,
and announced the installation of 12 solar street lights—six each for the boys’
and girls’ homes. These lights not only provide a reliable and cost-effective
source of illumination but also enhance security, enabling children to study
and move around safely after dark. The initiative, made possible through CSR
contributions, is a step towards energy efficiency and reducing Sevalaya’s
carbon footprint. The Founder also shared the success stories of Sevalaya
alumni who have made remarkable achievements in their lives. Mementos were
presented to the guests by P Abirami, Drawing Teacher at Sevalaya. The vote
of thanks was delivered by Prasanna Parthasarathy, Vice President, Donor
Relations, who expressed gratitude to the guests and detailed how Ben Line
Agencies partnered with Sevalaya to implement self-sustainability projects.
He highlighted the swift execution of the solar street light installation,
which now provides continuous lighting with minimal maintenance costs,
benefiting the students and staff alike. He also acknowledged Ben Line
Agencies’ continued support in fostering Sevalaya’s mission of service
and sustainability.
