B Sakthivel, an alumni, currently studying III year BE Mechanical Engineering in JNN Institute of Engineering, teaches the ancient art of ‘Silambam’ to students every Saturday, for a couple of hours. His movements are deft and he credits his father for having taught and trained him in this native martial art form. He says, “I see a lot of students are interested in learning silambam. If I teach these students maybe, they will teach others later on.” Sakthivel hails from an underprivileged family and he completed Std XII from Sevalaya.
