A graduation ceremony for Community College students and Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations were held at Sevalaya’s centre in Kasuva village near Thiruninravur, Tiruvallur on 5 Oct 2026. S Mathavan, Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, and R Logeeswari, District Skill Officer, Tiruvallur, were the Chief Guests on the occasion. The guests garlanded the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and paid their respects.
The Chief Guests presented certificates to 43 underprivileged students who successfully completed training in Laboratory Assistant and Nursing Assistant courses at Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College in Kasuva. The training programmes were supported by a leading corporate organisation. Notably, 39 students who completed the training have
secured employment through Sevalaya in various hospitals and laboratories. During the programme, prizes were presented to students who secured the highest marks in the Bharathi, Gandhi Vivekananda examinations.
Addressing the students, Mathavan said, “Today, education is often viewed as a business. But I am impressed to see Sevalaya working with the objective of helping others. The government has several schemes and initiatives to help youngsters. I will extend my support in helping students who have undergone skill development training at Sevalaya secure employment opportunities in various organisations. I will also guide students who complete Std XII about the various options available to them for higher studies.” Speaking about the Vetri Skill Training scheme, he said, “If you maintain discipline, you can progress to the next level in life. Instead of thinking about your own happiness alone, you should strive to keep everyone around you happy. Identify your skills, pursue studies according to your abilities and progress in life.”
Logeeswari said, “We have visited many schools, but we are very happy to see the activities happening in Sevalaya”. She advised the students to study well, achieve a good position in life and bring a good name to Sevalaya and their parents.
Earlier, Amarchand Jain, Member, Executive Committee – Sevalaya welcomed the gathering and spoke about Sevalaya’s activities. Students presented engaging cultural performances. Chinniah Suri, Deputy Head – Applied Learning, Sevalaya, delivered the vote of thanks.Mementos were presented to the Chief Guests.
