As part of its CSR initiatives, SGX has sponsored girl child education and Community College initiatives at Sevalaya. The initiatives were inaugurated by senior officials from SGX, Kathryn Sloane, Executive Managing Director – Commercial – APAC, Middle East & Africa, along with Mohan Sarangan, Managing Director – India on 29 September 2026 at Sevalaya’s campus in Kasuva Village, near Thiruninravur, Tiruvallur. Sevalaya staff members along with students, took part in the event.
The education sponsorship initiative will support the education, books andcuniforms of 273 girl children studying from Classes IX to XII. The CommunitycCollege initiative will provide skill development training and employmentcopportunities to 200 youth and women through computer and Tally courses at Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Community College in Ambattur.
Addressing the students, Kathryn Sloane said, “We are very happy to be part of Sevalaya’s journey and to support its work.” Mohan Sarangan said that SGX’s contribution was a small part of the larger work being carried out by Sevalaya and its Founder and Managing Trustee V Muralidharan. Referring to the Thirukkural verse, “Eendra pozhuthin peridhuvakkum thanmaganai saanron ena ketta thaai”, he encouraged the students to study well, build a good future and make Sevalaya
Muralidharan proud. He also assured that SGX’s support would continue every year.
The monthly manuscript magazine ‘Vidiyal’, prepared by Sevalaya students with the guidance of their teachers, was released on the occasion. Earlier, Navin Kumar N, AVP – Donor Relations, Sevalaya, welcomed the gathering. G Ramanathan, Trustee, Sevalaya, thanked SGX for its contribution towards skill development and the education of girl children. He also thanked the Chief Guests for taking time from their busy schedules to visit Sevalaya and spoke about Sevalaya’s various activities.
