As part of its CSR activities, Unipres India Private Limited funded various village development projects at Vadakupattu village, Kundrathur Block in Kancheepuram. The inauguration of the facilities, which includes 40 solar lights, 3 bus shelters, the planting of 1,500 saplings and the restoration of a 7,000 square foot pond, took place on 25 Feb 2026.
Sevalaya was the implementation partner for the project that has been completed at a cost of around ₹50 lakhs. Yasuhiro Suzuki, Managing Director – Unipres India, V S G Nandhini Metha Vasanthkumar, President – Vadakupattu Panchayat, Masahiro Omiya, Vice President – Unipres India and CA Chantibabu Bezawada, DGM-Finance, HR & Admin, Unipres India graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Villagers and Sevalaya staff members also participated.
The solar lights have been installed near an ancient Shiva temple in the village, along the agricultural fields and around the restored pond, enhancing the safety of villagers after nightfall. Unipres India had also sponsored furniture and sports equipment for the Panchayat Union Primary School in Vadakkupattu. The tree plantation and pond restoration will enhance air and water quality in the surrounding areas and also benefit local wildlife.
Speaking on the occasion, Yasuhiro Suzuki congratulated Sevalaya for successfully implementing the project. He also shared that Unipres was committed to community development initiatives and plans to undertake many more CSR projects in the future focused on environmental protection, community development and empowering future generations.
Earlier, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee of Sevalaya, welcomed the gathering. He shared that Sevalaya was already implementing a digital literacy project at a school in the village, and the efforts of its staff led to this association with Unipres India. The event concluded with the presentation of mementos to the Chief Guests.
