Play and Learn Hub Inaugurated at Sevalaya; Thousands of Underprivileged Kids to Benefit A Play and Learn Hub was inaugurated at Sevalaya’s centre in Kasuva village, near Thiruninravur, Tiruvallur district on 2 Dec 2025. Established at a cost of ₹2.1 Lakhs, the hub contains various toys ranging from fur toys to building blocks to STEM education toys. The
centre is located at the Montessori Hall in Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School in Kasuva and will benefit thousands of underprivileged children studying there.
Lakshmi Devnath, Scholar and Writer, sponsored the establishment of the hub. She inaugurated the centre through video conferencing. Sukanya Venkatachalam, Social Worker and Former General Manager, Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Following the inauguration, Lakshmi Devnath witnessed children engaging with the toys and expressed her happiness.
In her address she said, “In line with Mahakavi Bharathi’s lines- ‘Koodi Vilaiyaadu Paapa’- playing together creates new experiences that are beneficial to the development of children. Swami Vivekananda has said that we cannot grow a plant by ourselves. We can only provide the circumstances beneficial for a plant’s growth. In the same way, we need to create the right environment for children to grow. This Play and Learn Hub will boost various qualities such as sharing, caring, creativity, problem solving, honesty and focus in children”. She concluded by congratulating the teaching fraternity for their efforts in educating the children.
Sukanya Venkatachalam in her speech said she was happy to see Sevalaya grow from a small school to an institution that provides education to more than 2,000 children over the years. “This shows that Sevalaya has maintained a high standard of education all these years”, she said. Students presented engaging cultural performances.
Earlier V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya welcomed the gathering and said, “Sevalaya provides an enjoyable learning experience to its students through initiatives such as the Audio Library. The Play and Learn Hub being inaugurated today, is also one such initiative where children can learn through toys”. He also fondly recalled that Chennai Willingdon Corporate Foundation had sponsored construction of buildings at Sevalaya. Kanchana S, Head, Homes and Value Education, Sevalaya delivered the Vote of Thanks.
