Sevalaya celebrates Children’s Day with children at Institute of Social Paediatrics, Government Stanley Medical College Sevalaya NGO staff and students of Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School, Kasuva, Tiruvallur celebrated Children’s Day with children at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Social Paediatrics at Government Stanley Medical College on 14 November 2025. Prof Dr J Ganesh, HoD- Paediatrics, Prof Dr P Senthilkumar, Prof Dr R Senthilprabhu, Dr Thamarai, Assistant Professor, District Early Intervention Center (DEIC) and Dr Gavaskar, Paediatrician were present on the occasion.Around 50 children from DEIC attended the programme with their parents. All children were dressed in different costumes for the event and performed a ramp walk. Dr J Ganesh, in his speech thanked all the parents who had put in extra efforts in preparing their children for the event. He also shared that along with the support received from the government, it is commendable that a non-governmental organisation like Sevalaya is conducting these important activities in government hospitals. Dr Thamarai, thanked the parents for their preparation for the event. She highlighted that such events would help children with neurodevelopmental issues progress towards joining regular schooling. She also thanked the therapists at DEIC for their dedication and efforts. Health kits containing fruits were gifted to the children by the Sevalaya team. DEIC children presented gift items to Sevalaya children. Children from Sevalaya school presented colourful cultural performances. Earlier, welcoming the children, parents and guests on the occasion, Bhuvaneswari Muralidharan, Honorary Correspondent, Sevalaya expressed happiness in spending the special day with the children at the hospital. She thanked Dr Thamarai and senior doctors for arranging the event and taking care of the children at DEIC through their tireless efforts. She briefly spoke about how Sevalaya, started in 1988 in a village in Tiruvallur, today provides free education to 2,100+ children and also runs homes for destitute children and elders, a gaushala with 100+cows, community colleges for women and youth and rural development projects. She also presented mementos to the doctors team. N Navin Kumar, AVP, Donor Relations, Sevalaya was also present on the occasion. Children's Day was also celebrated by Sevalaya at Government Hospitals in Avadi, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Gudalur, Dharmapuri, Thanjavur, Tenkasi and Kovilpatti.
