On 20 Sep 2025, Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Union Education Minister, visited Sevalaya’s Chellamma Bharathi Learning Centre in Kadayam, Tenkasi. He honoured the legacy of the Bharathi-Chellamma couple by garlanding their statue. Sridhar Vembu, Founder and Chief Scientist of Zoho Corporation, also visited the centre.
Kadayam was the birthplace of Chellamma, Bharathiyar’s wife. Bharathiyar himself lived at Kadayam for two years. Sevalaya has renovated the Kadayam Branch Library and installed a life-size statue of Bharathiyar and Chellamma at the premises.
During the visit, Sankili Boothathan, Project Coordinator, Sevalaya’s Ravanasamudram centre presented him with Sevalaya’s 37th Annual Report and a memento.
