BGV Day celebrated at Sevalaya with Founders of Hi5 Youth Foundation as Chief Guests

Sevalaya celebrates 11 September every year as Bharathi-Gandhi-Vivekananda
Day (BGV Day). The day was celebrated at Sevalaya’s centre at Kasuva village,
Tiruvallur, near Thiruninravur on 16 Sep 2025. R Sundar, Founder and Usha Sundar,
Co-Founder, Hi5 Youth Foundation graced the occasion as Chief Guests. Hi5
Youth Foundation, Mumbai sponsors the basketball gear and coaching for 260+
Sevalaya students. Speaking on the occasion, Usha Sundar said, “We stay outside
India but we are Tamils at heart. We wanted to fulfill our dream in Tamil Nadu-
thanks to Sevalaya Muralidharan Sir for making it possible.” Addressing students,
she added, “Success and defeat are part of our lives. Defeat is difficult to
face but it also helps us improve and move towards success. We too have a
dream and we met Sevalaya on our journey towards this dream. As students you
should do every task with dedication. Play well, earn laurels and wish you
all the very best!”, she concluded. R Sundar in his speech said, “Thanks
to Sevalaya for honouring the great leaders Bharathi, Gandhi and
Vivekananda. As students, you will reach great heights if you follow the
advice of these three leaders. 11 September is a special day for Hi5 too.
We celebrated our 10th anniversary in Mumbai last week”.
“Sevalaya provides you opportunities in education, singing, dancing and
sports. Make good use of these opportunities, identify your innate talent,
practise everyday, make it a habit and pursue it as the path to your success”,
he concluded. An aerobics performance by students trained by Hi5 took place.
The Chief Guests interacted with the children and observed their daily practice
sessions. Students also presented colourful cultural performances. The Chief Guests
felicitated students who won in the competitions at La Chatelaine
Junior College in August. The monthly manuscript magazine ‘Vidiyal’ prepared
by students with the guidance of teachers was also released on the occasion.
Earlier V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee Sevalaya welcomed the
gathering and spoke about Sevalaya’s activities. He explained that 11 September
was a significant date in the lives of the three great leaders who inspired
the founding of Sevalaya- Mahakavi Bharathiyar, Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda.
It marks Bharathiyar’s remembrance day, the day on which Mahatma Gandhi
coined the term Satyagraha in South Africa and the day Swami Vivekananda delivered
his iconic speech in Chicago at the World’s Parliament of Religions. N Navin Kumar,
AVP, Donor Relations, Sevalaya delivered the Vote of Thanks. A memento was presented to the Chief Guests.
