Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School achieved an overall result of
99% in the XI standard board exams conducted this year. The results were released on
14th May 2024.
165 out of 166 students from Sevalaya have successfully passed the exams.
Notably, 112 students achieved First Division, with 25 scoring above 80%.
Sevalaya, a charitable organization, has been functioning for the past 36 years,
educating nearly 2200 children, free of cost, at their school in Kasuva, near
Thiruninravur, Thiruvallur district.
The topper, E P Harini scored 549/600. Her dad works as a lab assistant, her
mom teaches English at Sevalaya school. She has an older brother who is
studying Mechanical Engineering. She joined Sevalaya in Std XI, excelling
academically. She aims to study Psychology. She attributes the quality education
provided by Sevalaya.
R Vishali comes second, scoring 548/600. Her dad drives a lorry, and her mom
takes care of the house. She has an older sister who's training to be a physician
assistant and a younger brother in Std VII. Vishali joined Sevalaya in Std XI. She's
always been a top student, especially in Maths and English, her favorites. She
wants to become a physiotherapist and is preparing for the NEET exam. She is
very grateful to Sevalaya for providing the quality education free of charge. This
was the main reason for her to do well in Std XI.
Joshithaa, who scored 544/600, comes third. She has lost her father and lives
with her mother, who works as a security guard. She has a younger brother.
Joshithaa loves Maths and Science and dreams of becoming a doctor. She is
preparing for the NEET exam. Coming from an underprivileged background, she
enrolled in Sevalaya during Std XI, and the quality education provided was boon
to her.
The credit for the success of the students goes to Sevalaya and its teachers who spared
no efforts in going beyond their job to ensure that the students were thoroughly prepared
academically, physically, and mentally to give their best. They arranged several special
classes and provided individual attention through counseling sessions to the students.
Earlier, Sevalaya achieved a 97% pass rate in the Std X Board Exam
and a 99.2% pass rate in the XII standard board exams.
The toppers expressed their wish to pursue higher education, build a successful career,
and contribute back to Sevalaya. Sevalaya also supports deserving students in pursuing
higher education beyond school.
