Sevalaya celebrates Children’s Day with children at Paediatrics Ward of Government Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvallur
Sevalaya NGO staff and students of Sevalaya’s Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School, Kasuva, Tiruvallur celebrated Children’s Day with children in the Paediatrics Ward of Government Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvallur on 14 November 2025. Dr Perumal Pichai, Deputy Head- Paediatrics, Dr S Sridevi, Associate Professor- Paediatrics, Dr D Jagdish, Nodal Officer- DEIC (District Early Intervention Center) and Shanthi Sudarsan, Social Activist were present on the occasion. 50 Health kits containing fruits were gifted to the children. Children from Sevalaya school presented colourful cultural performances. Shanthi Sudarsan in her speech said, “I learnt about Sevalaya through Mr Amarchand Jain. I regularly visit Sevalaya. Their campus is always clean and the children there are always smiling”. Dr Perumal Pichai in his speech thanked Sevalaya for their initiative to conduct an event on Children’s Day at the hospital. He also advised parents to ensure regular vaccinations and nutritious food intake for their children. He also said that children should attain specific developmental milestones in a particular age and that parents should consult a doctor in case of any developmental delays.
Dr Sridevi in her speech said, “Sevalaya children gave a very engaging dance performance. To succeed in life, education and talent are very important. All children need to focus on their studies and do well in life”. She also thanked Sevalaya for painting the walls of the Paediatric ward, providing a cheerful environment and aiding the recovery of the children admitted there. Dr Jagdish in his speech said he was very happy to see that the children at the hospital, in spite
of suffering from various illnesses, were able to celebrate Children’s Day. Welcoming the children, parents and guests on the occasion, V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya spoke about a Children's Day 20 years ago when he visited a family member at a hospital and felt children admitted there also needed to celebrate the day. Sevalaya started celebrating the day in Paediatrics Departments in Government Hospitals around Tamil Nadu. Amarchand Jain, Member, Executive Committee, Sevalaya delivered the Vote of Thanks and thanked the doctors, children and parents for their cooperation. Mementos were presented to the Chief Guests.
