National Mathematics Day Celebrated at Sevalaya; 1,200 Students from 5 States Participate in Talent Exam

The birth anniversary of the great mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan is celebrated as National Mathematics Day on 22 December every year. Sevalaya celebrated the day on 20 Dec 2025 at its Kasuva centre near Thiruninravur, Tiruvallur.

Association graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Seeing the various charitable activities being done at Sevalaya, I too wish to do my part to help others. Everyone has an intuition within them. When
we listen to it, Maths becomes easy. Students need to ensure that they learn Maths not through rote learning but through practice and writing”.

In the run up to the event, a Mathematics Talent Examination was conducted by Sevalaya for students across South India. 1,200 students from 155 schools across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana participated in the examination. The Chief Guest felicitated 37 students who excelled in the talent examination with trophies.

C P Perumal, Headmaster of S V Vidya Nikethan- Nagari who was instrumental in encouragingnmany students from his school to participate in the examination over the past two years, also participated in the event. In his speech he said, “Many students are afraid of Maths. But believe in yourself and Maths will become easy. Sevalaya will help you study well and succeed in life”.

Earlier Vijaya R, Head- Education, Sevalaya welcomed the gathering and spoke about how Sevalaya has been celebrating Ramanujan’s birthday for the past 10 years. She also outlined Sevalaya’s various charitable activities. Students presented engaging cultural performances. V Poongothai, Maths Teacher- Sevalaya delivered the Vote of Thanks. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by Maths Teacher Navin Kumar. Students, teachers and parents who participated in the event were provided lunch
at the Sevalaya campus.
