
Dignitaries from Fortess and Sevalaya inaugurated a Digital Literacy Programme
at Thillaiyadi Thiyagi Valliammai Government Higher Secondary School in Thillaiyadi,
Mayiladuthurai district on 1 Sep 2025. P R Krishnan, Secretary, Fortess and Former
EVP, TCS, Venkatraman Ravi, Member, Executive Council, Fortess, CEO and Principal
Consultant, Capricorn Consulting Center and Dr K Kesavasamy, Former Software Scientist,
ISRO, Former Education Leader, TCS, and Member, BOG, IEEE Education Society graced the
occasion as Chief Guests. For this project worth ₹5.34 lakhs, a computer lab has
been set up with Fortess’ funding, with 10 computers, necessary software, and seating
for students. Sevalaya will act as the coordinator for the programme. A qualified
staff will conduct weekly classes in basic computer applications, robotics and
various topics for 342 students from Classes VI to IX. It is noteworthy that
Sevalaya is already running similar digital literacy programmes in schools at Kanchipuram
and Sirkazhi. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kesavasamy urged the students to study
every subject with full focus and specifically highlighted the importance of Physics
and Computer Science subjects. Venkatraman Ravi encouraged the students to aspire
for admissions in IITs. P R Krishnan emphasised the values of discipline, education,
and hard work in the daily lives of students. Earlier, Headmaster M Gopalakrishnan
welcomed the gathering. V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya,
introduced the guests from Fortess and shared details of various Sevalaya’s
initiatives with the students. School children presented cultural performances.
Mementos were presented to the Chief Guests. The event concluded with a Vote of
Thanks by the school’s Assistant Headmistress M Thamarai Nankai.
