Digital Audio Library Inaugurated at Sevalaya, 2,400+ Students, Elders, Differently Abled and Villagers to Benefit

A Digital Audio Library was inaugurated at Sevalaya in Kasuva village, near
Thiruninravur, Tiruvallur district on 10 Jul 2025. Containing 2,500 stories in
audio format, the audio library is located in the library section at Sevalaya’s
Mahakavi Bharathiyar Higher Secondary School in Kasuva. Ramya Vasudevan, Director,
Under the Tree Foundation, Chennai graced the occasion as Chief Guest and inaugurated
the Digital Audio Library. For the past seven years, Ramya Vasudevan has been
recording and providing more than 2,500 stories in audio format to Government
Libraries and schools. She has now donated these recordings to Sevalaya,
completely free of cost. These stories cover various subjects such as spirituality,
science, translations of English fiction and non-fiction that are suitable for
Sevalaya students, teachers and elders. Around 2,400 beneficiaries including
Sevalaya school students, teachers and elders from Sevalaya’s Old Age Homes will
benefit from this facility. In the future, the facility will be expanded to cover
all Sevalaya centres and reach many more beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion,
Ramya Vasudevan addressed the students and said, “Everybody loves stories. When we
listen to stories, our imagination grows, we wish to read more books and wish to
become a storyteller ourselves. So students like you should listen to a story
everyday. All the stories provided in the library are relevant to our day-to-day
lives that you will all relate to. I am sure, these stories will entertain you
as well as make you more intelligent. So listen more and read more”. She also
briefly narrated two stories from the collection- Toto San for children and Mulmudi
for teachers. She concluded by requesting everyone to make good use of the facility.
Earlier Vikram N, Executive Committee Member, Sevalaya welcomed the gathering and spoke
about the Chief Guest and explained her work to the students. Students presented
engaging cultural performances. The monthly manuscript magazine ‘Vidiyal’ prepared by
students with the guidance of teachers was released on the occasion. The Chief Guest
presented books to Sevalaya employees celebrating their birthdays in the month of July.
A memento was presented to the Chief Guest by Vijaya R, Head- Education, Sevalaya.
