36 Underprivileged Youth Complete Free Tailoring and Computer Course at Sevalaya, Pattinapakkam; Receive Certificates and Job Offers.

A graduation day was celebrated for 36 students who completed the free Tailoring and Computer courses at Sevalaya’s Gayathri Memorial Vocational Training Centre, Pattinapakkam, Chennai on 1 Nov 2025.

K Balasubramanian from M N Gayathri Charities, Chennai was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The building at Pattinapakkam was donated to Sevalaya by M N Gayathri Charities, which also sponsored the training courses. In his speech, Balasubramanian advised students to stay updated with new technologies like Artificial Intelligence to remain competitive and relevant in their chosen fields. He also emphasised the importance of learning multiple languages, noting that it is a valuable skill, much like vocational training, and enables individuals to explore opportunities anywhere.

Earlier Anandan M T, Head, Applied Learning, Sevalaya delivered a warm welcome to the graduating students and guests. V Muralidharan, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya also addressed the gathering. He spoke about Sevalaya’s mission of empowering underprivileged youth through holistic, skill-based education. He also shared an inspiring impact story of an alumni student who once displayed unethical behaviour but transformed his life after joining Sevalaya’s AC Mechanic course. The student successfully completed his training, secured employment, and as a gesture of gratitude, contributed his first month’s salary of ₹10,000 to Sevalaya. He emphasised that Sevalaya not only builds careers but also inculcates values and discipline, creating a lasting positive impact in every learner’s personal life.

The Chief Guest distributed certificates to 17 students who completed the Tailoring course and 19 students who completed the Computer course. Justin Ruban, Computer Course graduate, now employed at a textile shop and Rani S, Tailoring Course graduate, now self-employed shared their personal experiences on how Sevalaya’s training enabled them to achieve self-
confidence and financial independence. Students delivered engaging cultural performances. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest. Anandan M T delivered the vote of thanks.
