Women’s livelihood- sustained tailoring training

50 beneficiaries of sewing machines belonging to the Irula community, were given sustained training by Sevalaya staff for one full year, as part of an agreement with L&T Infotech, who donated the machines. These were distributed to the beneficiaries in March 2016, after their livelihood and homes were washed away during the Chennai floods, in December 2015.

Women’s livelihood- sustained tailoring training by Sevalaya Each month, staff from Sevalaya’s Kasuva or Vadanallur campus went to interior villages in Tiruttani taluk, Thiruvallur Dist., to provide training to the women. This sustained training has reaped rich rewards as many women are able to find a steady source of income by stitching fashionable clothes, after they attended the training sessions.
