Sevalaya celebrated Teacher’s day function in its campus at 3 pm on 5th September 2015. The event aimed at recalling the life of our philosopher-President Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, to our children and teachers as well.
Mr. Ashwin Kumar Iyer, CEO, Vedaanta Senior Living, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He stressed on how teachers played a vital role in molding the children , and thereby shaping the future of the world. He fondly recalled his school days and shared memories about his teachers. He urged the students of Sevalaya to continue to keep in touch with their roots- their school and their teachers.
The students expressed their love, affection & gratitude to the teachers; by presenting mementos to them. Each class presented a souvenir to their class teachers.
In the morning 600 volunteers from SCOPE International conducted drawing competition to the children and games for the teachers and distributed prizes to them.
Earlier Mr. V. Muralidharan, Founder & Managing Trustee, Sevalaya, welcomed the gathering. He explained the importance of Teachers day and its relevance in the present day scenario. He also highlighted the important role Sevalaya teachers played in educating the underprivileged children and making them all complete schooling successfully and help the organization achieve its goal of empowering the poor kids through education. .
To honour the staff on this occasion, silver coins were distributed to all staff of Sevalaya.
The programme came to an end with vote of thanks by Mr. Amarchand Jain, Advisory Committee member, Sevalaya and singing of the National Anthem.
