Sevalaya’s Effective NGO Leadership Summit

“Sustainability and Leadership – Twin Challenges of NGOs” – Ponraj, Dr Kalam’s Scientific Advisor

The 3 day Effective NGO Leadership Summit  -Balancing Heart Head and Hand- organised by Sevalaya in association with Centre for Social Leadership, USA was inaugurated by V Ponraj, Scientific Advisor to (Late) Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India at Anna University Alumni Centre at Chennai on 17th Feb 2016. This by- invitation summit, offered free of charge, has brought together 60 CEOs and leaders from major NGOs in India.

The Summit is being anchored by Mr. Anthony Silard, President, Centre for Social Leadership, USA and CEO of The Global Leadership Institute. Anthony Silard is a leadership Guru and consultant to many Fortune 100 companies, political leaders and G 20 cabinet ministers.

In his inspiring inaugural address, reminiscent of Dr Kalam’s simplicity and clarity, Mr. Ponraj, quoting anecdotes from the life of Dr Kalam, highlighted leadership and sustainability as twin challenges for leaders and organisations.

The 3 day summit will focus on characteristics of an effective NGO Leader, Leveraging Resources for a cause, Networking, Finding the balance between flexibility and control and work and life. “This summit comes in wake of the fresh challenges face d by the NGO sector in accessing and utilising corporate CSR Budget under the new CSR law .” noted V Muralidharan, Founder & Managing Trustee of Sevalaya.

Day 2 of the summit will feature a Corporate Panel discussion involving representatives from Asian Paints, L & T Infotech, Capgemini, PwC, Vedanta Senior Living , interacting with the participants thus providing a platform to understand each other’s needs and expectations thereby forging  a good relationship benefiting the society at large.
