Sevalaya Murali awarded Best social worker 2016 by Tamilnadu state

This prestigious award was presented by the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Selvi J Jayalalitha during the Independence day function at Fort St. George, on August 15, 2016. It was an acknowledgement of more than two decades of assiduous service to the cause of the underprivileged sections of the society. At Sevalaya’s heart is providing ‘free’ education to more than 2000 underprivileged children.  More than half of them are girls from the surrounding villages. Sevalaya has taken up the cause of sponsoring the collegiate education of 50 girl children who have completed their Std. XII Board exams.

Sevalaya Murali in his thanks message, says, “It is a proud moment for all of us at Sevalaya. With the blessings of Mahakavi Bharathi, Mahatma Gandhi, and Swami Vivekanda, Sevalaya has been serving the needy for the past 28 years and receiving many awards and recognitions. To get an award at the state level from the hands of the Chief Minister is a humbling experience. I am happy to receive this award on behalf of all the trustees, advisors, staff, children and senior citizens.”
